Community help needed to troubleshoot automation Rule workflow

Keane Yam September 28, 2023

Hi al

I've set up the following rules so that the action of creating a new fixversion and assigning it into an isues' fixversion field would automate the creation of a new confluence page (based on a template that I have set up) that will be titled following the new fixversion number (and not past numbers).

image.pngThe rule works, but it does not return anything even though I validated the query and am certain it should filter out 1 issue which will invoke the creation of the confluence page. Can anyone please help?

Hi @Keane Yam ,

It seems like your automation is triggered whenever a new version is created, not when version is assigned to an issue.

As a version can't be assigned at the same time as it is being created therefore the automation doesn't do anything.

Try changing the trigger to when version value is changed as seen below:

Hi Najm,

Thanks for the reply. I'd try it out. But what I really need is to create the confluence page whenever a new version (which should be a release planned for the future) is created, not when the field is changed (say if I decide to fast track or delay changes) of which the page would already exist.

But let me take that line of thought you have further and see where I get to. Thanks.
