In a next gen / team managed project, it is possible to add or change an epic via the detail screen of a backlog item. In the pop up window it is possible to add any epic present in the project. Is it possible to disable the option to search or select epics with thestatus done?
I attached the related pop up windown. You can open that window via the detail page -> add epic / change epic -> view all epics
No I do not know of any means of disabling this. I'm trying to understand why you would want to do that though. I'm sure you have your reasons just trying to understand that.
Because epics with status done are completed and it should not be possible to add new backlog items to completed epics. Since epic titles are often alike, team member connect the wrong epic to a new backlog item.
For Jira cloud there was a same kind of issue and there it is solved. Same kind of solution (an option in the window to hide done epics) would be great as well

ah now I see what you are getting at. I know in CMP in the backlog view, which is what I often use to add issues to epic, I can view the Epic panel. If I set the Epic Status to Done it disappears from the panel. Now you mention that this is solved in Jira cloud but isn't that your platform, according to your tags? This last bit is confusing.

@Jack Brickey , sorry for the confusion. I am working in a Team managed project, so I removed the tag 'cloud'. In TMP the field Epic status is not available anymore so it is not possible to set an epic status.

I found this open suggestion in JAC - JSWCLOUD-21733 - Do Not allow "Done" epics to be assigned as parent issue to jira stories in Team Managed project
