Change assignee

I have a developer team that plans in kanban. They often change assignee on the cards and thinks it takes to long to open the card just to change assignee. Is there a quicker way or shortcut for this?

Trust you are well.

If you would like to try Partner Apps in our Advanced Kanban & Agile Boards we have a flexibility to change Assignee on the card (inline) or via drag and drop. Let me elaborate:

• on our board you can click on Assignee avatar on the board to see other users you can assign to (search is also available) by selecting a new one the issue will be re-assigned.
• we also allow drag and drop between swimlanes. So, if you organize swimlanes by Assignee drag and drop issue will automatically re-assign. If you move to a different column it will also change the status in addition to Assignee.

Hi Yuri! Thanks for that but I prefer if every little adjusment och need in jira was not an app that costs us above 100 $ a month. I adds up and a lot of the features ar in essense very basic.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer...

You may find the available shortcuts for a board with the question mark key, "?".

There is a short-cut to change the assignee, but since the behavior of boards changed with the "new issue view" it no longer shows just a pop-up to change assignee.  Instead it opens the issue view and focuses on the assignee field.

Regardless, selecting the issue on the board opens the issue view (1st step), followed by changing the assignee (2nd step).  And so the shortcut seems to only reduce navigating to the field now.

As a follow-up question: what does the team say when you ask them why they change the assignee frequently?  That may be the symptom of something else that is worth discussing.

Thanks Bill! Valid Q! I believe we have a slight case of "I love azure and not Jira and it does not work exactly the same". It's quite a small team so I guess the reason might also be that they have to help out a bit due to both competencies and calendartiming but I will def question the way of working and see if we can change anything?

When teams are using several different tools to manage work, I can definitely see challenges in keeping things aligned.  You may want to investigate if making the assignment in one tool can be used to update the other, using Automation for Jira rules...or a marketplace addon / connector.
