Hello,
i am the watcher of an issue, the lozenge next to "manage watchters" displays a 4.
I hit "stop watching"
The number does not change.
I hover over the lozenge and hit the trashcan next to my name.
The number changes to 3.
I refresh the page
The number is back to 4, im am again a watcher of the issue.
How can i effectively stop watching the issue?
Autowatch system default is off
Autowatch in my profile is off
Multiple User Accounts are affected by the problem (possibly all)
Looking at the issue is dont see any recent actitivity on the issue in the change history or the transitions so i doubt this is caused by an workflow based automation in the background.
We are running Jira 7.9.2
kind regards & thanks in advance
Jens
Hello Jens,
I hope you are having a nice day.
There are some possible reasons that could be causing the problem. I recommend you to check the following:
1 - Check if the issue was imported using the Project Import -It's possible you are been impacted by the following bug:
Cannot delete watchers from an issue that was imported using the Project Import
2 - Check if you are configured as the assignee or reporter of the issue
3 - Check if the same problems happen on a different browser and in incognito mode
4 - try the steps below in the correct sequence:
5 - Although I believe this is not related to the problem, I think it's worth check if a deleted user is added as a watcher to the issue just to confirm you are not facing the problem mentioned in the documentation below:
Unable to Edit Watchers for an issue
If the steps above do not help, please provide us the following information:
- Is the problem happening for multiple issues or only for this specific one?
- Is anything returning in the JavaScript console of the browser?
- Is this reproducible in multiple browsers?
Let me know if this information helps.

Hi Petterson,
I have the same problem and I have been able to resolve with the instructions of 4º point:
4 - try the steps below in the correct sequence:
Stop watching this issue (hit the trashcan)
Start watching this issue
Refresh the browser
Stop watching this issue
Refresh the browser
But, what is the reason to aply this steps?. Log doesn't print any errors.
Thank you.

Hello @Diego Godoy Poce ,
The operation above enforces a re-index in the watcher field, fixing any possible incoherency in the background.
@Jens Kisters __SeibertSolutions , have you tried the mentioned steps? Do you still need help with anything?

Has any one a "bulk edit" solution for this that works - the current solution "Stop Watching Issues" under bulk does not unwatch the issues. Using Jira on-prem

You have to the same "Steps" as with a single Issue:
