Can we upgrade JIRA 8.8.1 (on-prem) with old license to 9.5.0 or we need a new license? Not looking to extend support, and keep the existing license. can we simply upgrade, or should we discard and throw away things?

Hi @Stanislav Prikhodko ,

in order to upgrade your instance you need a valid license.

What is the end-date on your current licence?

You can not upgrade to a version released after that.  (and, yes, server licences will go away February next year, but you can still extend up until then)

Hello @Stanislav Prikhodko

Are you working with Jira Server or Jira Data Center?

Take a look at the information here to see if it answers your question:

"For server licenses, after the first 12/24 months, your software maintenance will expire and you will no longer be able to receive technical support or software updates. "

ok. well, it sounds like without an active license we will not be able to do upgrade
