Can we get + symbol to create child tasks instead of manually going through create every time?

Pavan March 21, 2024

Hi Team,

Basically, we are looking to avoid having to press the create button every time, if possible we would like to have a button to quickly create child issues, similar to the '+' sign for linked issues.

Thanks,

Pavan Kalyan.P

Hi @Pavan

This is available for Epics, and Sub-tasks under an issue once the first Sub-task is created.

If you mean for the custom hierarchy though (i.e above Epic), this isn't available natively unfortunately. There is a feature request though you could vote for - see: JSWSERVER-25078

You can do it from Advanced Roadmaps though, then commit the changes to Jira. Hover over an issue in your hiearchy, and select the breacrumbs (...) that appear. From here you can create a parent or a child.

Additionally, if you are creating multiple issues at once, you can click the 'Create Another' checkbox at the bottom of the Create Issue screen. After you create the first one, you'll stay on the Create Issue screen and some of the information will be retained.

@Ste Wright

Thanks for the Prompt response.

Can you refer to the attached screenshot in replies and here you can get what I am trying to get and as per your comment we can make it for EPIC and SUBTASKS but we are using only two issue types ( initiative and another), can't we get this + symbol for child issues in this issue type?

Thanks,

Pavan.

As @Ste Wright pointed out, that functionality does not exist for this type of relationship.
