Board Keeps Re Ordering

I have a workflow where a couple steps you can enter from anywhere. However, I dragged the items on my "Board" view to be a specific order, because I want that visual for my team, and it's easier to look for certain ones that you know should be at the beginning or the end.

However, whenever I go back into the board after an hour or a day, the board is re-organized again! The ordering makes no sense, with items that are at the beginning of the workflow randomly in the middle, and the ones that are marked as green "done" type sections of the workflow are also in the middle, and everything in between is all around it.

I have no idea why the order keeps getting re-organized, if it may be someone on my team doing it, or what. I can't seem to find an area of Jira that allows me to say, this is the order of the Board Tab, save it, don't let anyone change it.

Does anyone know how to save a board flow to only show as one view, for everyone? And restrict editing? I am dragging them around on my own, but it seems that this doesn't save across all.

Hi @nicole.kirchner and welcome to the Community!

In Jira work management, boards do represent the different statuses of the workflow)s) in your project. Every status is represented as a column on the board and - indeed - it is ridiculously easy to change the order of columns, even by accident: just dragging a column in a different place does change the order around.

As explained in this support article dragging columns of the board around is only visible to the user who made the change. If things change, it may be because changes are made in the underlying workflow (by adding or reordering statuses there).

Hope this helps!
