I'm wondering if it is possible to automatically create a Jira from a .csv or .txt by dropping in a network folder?  Or if there's some other process to do this?  The manual import would not work well with the number of tickets we would be creating on a daily basis.

Hi @Tonya DeGraw  - Did you ever get this sorted out? Did you implement Bill's answer?

Hi @Tonya DeGraw -- Welcome to the Atlassian Marketplace!

I do not believe there are built-in functions to do that.

Some other options are:

  • set up a mail handler in Jira, email to a address which then consumes the emails to create issues
  • investigate the Atlassian Marketplace for addon tools to watch the folder/add the issues
  • build your own application to watch the folder, and then call the Jira REST API to add the issues directly
  • build a process which generates the issues, and use an Automation for Jira rule and a webhook to consume the messages and add the issues

Kind regards,
Bill
