We want the ability to associate the time logged on an issue to a pre configured list of activities so that we can evaluate how much time we spend on specific activities across development projects within the business.
Get time by time in status?
Expanding the workflow by 'activity' is not a realistic option as it would unnecessarily increase length/complexity of the flow, and each activity is not guaranteed in each flow. It would also then need users to ensure they log time accurately before each status change.
Proposed Solution
- Create a new global configuration: Worklog Activities
- Global 'Admins' can then create a set of activities.
- Users must select an activity from the list when logging time on an issue.
Extension
- Could extend to configure the list of activities per project.
Example Work Log Activity List
(Don't pick at the list, it's for example purposes only lol)
Could be as simple as:
Or it could be detailed explicit activities:
I honestly believe this simple feature would add immense value for businesses trying to improve their development processes.
Hello @Owain Roberts
Clockwork Automated Time Tracking & Timesheets Pro provides you with this functionality.
With Clockwork you can create many Worklog Attributes to associate with your Worklogs.
as shown:
This also helps you streamline your reporting with Clockwork as you can filter with these fields and export them in Excel.
Please see our documentation for more information.
Let me know if you would like to talk more about this feature. Please reach out to us here.
Hi @Owain Roberts
this feature already exists in some 3rd party time-tracking plugins on the Marketplace.
For example, our app, Timetracker offers customizable tags. We have some default ones, but you can easily create your own, manage them for your worklogs, and create reports based on them. You can read more about them on our documentation page.
Feel free to book a demo on the Marketplace listing page if you have questions, or just start a free trial. :)
