Adding an Issue number to parent comment

Hi all,

I've set-up an automation so that, when a Story or Task is flagged as 'impeded', the parent epic is likewise flagged as impeded and a comment is added to the parent epic saying 'this epic has been flagged as impeded as one of its children are impeded'.

I'd like the comment on the parent to cite the Issue number of the impeded child issue - e.g. so the comment would read 'this epic has been flagged as impeded as one of its children (SD-4567) is impeded'.

Any thoughts on how I could to this? Thanks!

Hi @Adam Taylor !

When the Child triggers your automation you could create a variable and populate it with the smart value for issue key and then use that variable in the comment.

Here's a screenshot of creating the variable:

Note: my assumption is that you are getting to the parent through a branch, you will want to ensure you create this variable after the trigger but before the branch or you will populate your variable with the Issue Key of your parent issue instead of the child.
