Actions on my sprint affecting other sprints

Ismail Sanni

Hi Guys,

I work on sprints, i closed one today and i moved issues to a different sprint as well, I got a message from a coworker using a sprint in a different project asking if i closed his sprint or moved issues away from his sprint, he got emails and from that emails, my name appear that i moved the issues to a different sprint but the thing is that i never went into his project, i didn't even know the project existed, it wasn't even part of projects i recently accessed. Is there something connecting my sprint and his sprint together?

Thanks

This can happen if issues in your sprint is also associates with sprints on other boards. Sprints are not board/project specific, so issues can be associated with any sprint no matter the board or project. That is why I always recommend assigning issues to sprints from the backlog, that way you know it will end up in a sprint at is associated that board.

Hi @Ismail Sanni check the filters on the boards and see if they reference anything outside of the respective projects.

@Mikael Sandberg I assign sprints from the Backlog, and the issues are not associated with Sprints in the other board, they have totally different issue keys. Lol its just kind of funny because i haven't even seen this issues before.

Hi @Craig Nodwell I checked the board filter and they are only Atlassian issues and i checked the affected issues and they have a different IT function and they don't appear in the filter at all.

@Mikael Sandberg I can remember ranking some issues in my board, I remember those issues and when i checked the history of the affected issues, it said i ranked them but i can clearly remember i ranked different issues in a totally different project

You can always check the audit log. You'll need your admin to check for that. It'll tell you what happend.

@Craig Nodwell I checked the Audit log and i didn't see much info, I will monitor it in case it happens again.

Thanks for your contribution

@Craig Nodwell @Mikael Sandberg The issue was because the 2 Sprints shared the same name.

That's a bit confusing since under the hood the two sprints should have different internal id's.
