What can we learn?

Have some free time today? How about reviewing your application’s apps, connections, and integrations to see if any need attention? Some may need updates, some may need to be uninstalled or unsubscribed, and free trials may need to be purchased or removed.

The best place to check for apps that need attention is the “Manage apps” page in the Jira application admin area. But what if you have additional functions and features provided by mechanisms outside the Atlassian Marketplace? There’s no central place in Jira to find all possible additional features, so here’s a list of some places to check.

Other Places to Check

  • Your Jira documentation

  • Server and application logs (Server and Data Center)

  • Visit: Admin > Billing

  • Additional billing statements

App Maintenance Tips

  • Look for apps that need updates or that should be removed or disabled. As always, I recommend making these changes in a test environment first.

  • In Server or Data Center, do a reindex after app changes are made. Reindexes can impact performance so always do them outside of peak hours.

  • If you don’t maintain a list of features powered by apps, connections, and integrations, now is a great time to make one! I’m sure the next Jira admin would appreciate not having to ask the Finance team to look through billing statements again in the future.
