Just wanted to confirm if we can upgrade from our current version of Jira, 8.1.1 to 8.4.1 or do we need to upgrade in sequence to reach to 8.4.1?

there should not be any problem. Just as usual do this first on testing environment and check upgrade notes (like ended support of PostgreSQL 9.3) and release notes.
