I have a need for a large html field type to add to my issue types. Same as description. Is this on the roadmap? Are there other field types that are forthcoming?

I understand that you are looking for a custom field that would properly render HTML syntax on your JIRA issues, is that correct?
Unfortunately, HTML syntax is a restricted function on the Cloud platform, once this feature creates an XSS vulnerability that could allow malicious users to gain system administrator permissions and use the Cloud infrastructure for nefarious purposes.
Instead of using HTML, JIRA provides the Wiki markup option, where you can configure almost all the elements available on HTML.
