Securing incoming emails to Jira with DMARC

Hello Everyone,

We are happy to share with the community that we are rolling out the ability for our admins to use Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) to improve the security of incoming email Jira requests.

DMARC is an email authentication, policy, and reporting protocol that helps protect email senders and recipients from fraudulent emails or spoofing and phishing attacks.

When DMARC is enabled for incoming emails, emails that don’t pass authentication checks will be blocked. Please note that this may cause some legitimate emails to be blocked if the sender hasn’t configured their email correctly.

As this is related to security, this feature is enabled by default for all customers. We ask all our customers to configure your and your sender’s email accounts at the earliest to ensure that your incoming emails are working correctly. In case you wish to disable DMARC, Jira admins can choose to do so with the knowledge that disabling DMARC may make your site less secure.

To enable/disable this setting

  1. Go to Settings > System > Incoming Mail

  2. Under DMARC incoming email authentication select Enable or Disable.

Thank you,
