how come when I set my tickets to review in JIRA it does not set them as resolved when my workflow has a line from review to status resolved.

You'll need to set the resolution field in a transition screen or set it automagically through a post function in the workflow.

@Brittany Wispell I think what is meant is that when we try to pull metrics from issue.fields.resolutiondate there is no data and wasn't sure what we need to do to get that metric to trigger.

@Carlos R Gomez the resolution is being set then you're just trying to get the date that it was resolved?
