This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Epic

I seem to be having trouble setting up Epic Links in JIRA Core. Is this functionality not available? The Epic Name and Epic Link field are not available as standard system fields when I attempt to configure the Epic screen.

Epics in JIRA Core are just another issue type. 

You need JIRA Software to gain all the Software related functions.

These are not Software related functions these are Agile related items and Agile is not just IT
