Hi Carla,

Sometimes strange behavior can happen during an HTTPS setup. There's a few places that need to get updated when configuring HTTPS, and having an unexpected value in one of the areas might cause the problem you're seeing.

Let's take a look at these areas:

  1. Jira's base URL should have https in the front of it now, instead of the original http value. This is most frequently the cause of issues with things like dashboards. If you aren't sure how to update the base URL in Jira, have a look here.
  2. Changes to server.xml require a restart of Jira. Presumably you've done this, but it might be helpful to have a look at the file and verify Jira has been restarted since the last time the file was saved.
  3. Ensuring a reverse proxy is configured correctly - this varies quite a bit and would be helpful to know if you are using a reverse proxy (Apache, nginx, etc) and see the configuration for it if possible.

Any screenshots you can provide of the garbling and the configuration of your server.xml (and reverse proxy configuration if you're using a reverse proxy) would be helpful to troubleshoot. Hopefully it's just the base URL but the additional information will be needed to keep troubleshooting if it's not.

Cheers,
Daniel
