Want to help us improve Jira Align? Let's chat!

Hello, Community!

As a Lead Researcher on our Enterprise Agility team, I’d like to share some information about Jira Align’s research program and what you can expect as we gather feedback. If you’ve ever wanted to share your thoughts about Jira Align, this is a great way to partner with us and do so!

Our Research and Development team is constantly working to learn more about our customers to improve how Jira Align can work for you. We run customer surveys and feedback sessions to help gain insights from our customers. Sometimes, these research opportunities support the development of a specific feature. Other times, they’re more generalized to understand key journeys or ways of working.

Register for Research Opportunities

Occasionally, you may receive a message asking for feedback participation in your Jira Align instance. The message will show up at different times for different users. As of the writing of this article, only Jira Align customers on the cloud will be eligible to see the message. It will look something like this:

We use this message to share research opportunities and that we’re looking for interested users. To register your interest, select Yes on the dialog message. You’ll be taken to one of our survey portals, where you’ll be added to a list of interested users.

If you’re not interested in registering, select No and we won’t ask you again about the same opportunity (typically about six months).

Participate in Research Opportunities (and get a thank-you gift for it!)

After indicating your interest, you’ll be added to a panel of potential participants and may occasionally receive short surveys to the email address you provide. These short surveys will match you to individual research opportunities. Each research opportunity is different. Many have limited slots available, and some may be targeted at users who meet certain criteria. As a result, you may or may not be selected for a particular survey or interview session. If you’re selected for a specific opportunity, a member of our team will reach out to you to schedule a time. If you’re not selected, we would hope to match you to a future research opportunity. You can always change your mind and opt-out of the research panel by clicking on the link in your email.

Your time and feedback are valuable, and we want to recognize that. For many studies, in exchange for your valuable time with us, we may offer a thank-you gift for your participation. The thank-you gift could include a gift card or charity donation option.

What to expect during feedback session

If you’ve been selected for a feedback session with us, we’ll ask your permission to record the session. Often times, we’ll just interview you or show you a prototype for feedback. Sometimes, the sessions may be done on a demo Jira Align instance. For some sessions, you may be asked to share your screen. We’ll tell you if the session would require the sharing you screen ahead of time, so that you can make the right decision for your comfort. We don’t want your proprietary data, so you can blur or black out parts of your screen if needed, and we can also edit out proprietary data or pii.

The information you share with us will be protected and will only be shared within Atlassian. Any information you share with us within research sessions will only be used for generating research insights - and not for advertisement or marketing. For more information about how we collect and use data, check out our informed consent page.

We’ll ask you many questions during the session, but there are no right or wrong answers. Each session is candid and are open conversations about your experiences for us to learn from you. We typically start out by learning a bit about your day to day role and then jump into a topic to get your opinion.
