Hello there Community.
Firstly, I love what you all do. I've got to meet many different community leaders around the world, and your shared passion is infectious.
Secondly, I need your help. With my colleagues, @Sven Peters and @Mark Cruth , we've been touring a series of ACE events talking about TEAMWORK and not talking about product. We want your feedback AND your suggestions by telling us more about what areas of teamwork you're struggling with, and where we might be able to help.
As an example, we ran an awesome community event in Sydney in February all about TEAMWORK and nothing to do with product.
The SUPERBRAIN of @Mahreen Khan opened up by talking about the science of teams, and some of our amazing Atlassian research about what makes teams tick, and what makes team implode. She covered, the importance and role of psychological safety, how we go about building a shared understanding, and the curious role of imposter syndrome.
If you want to know more about the impacts of hybrid work, the changing dynamic of modern day leadership, and tips for building more effective and innovative teams, 100% check out the reports that Mahreen referenced in her talk.

This was followed by an external guest speaker, Andrea Clarke, who's an ex TV journalist and now best selling author of a book FutureFit, all about how to build resilient skills and be a great modern day leader. It was an absolute pleasure to host Andrea, and she had the audience in Sydney and on Zoom, completely captivated. She seamlessly took the theory of great leadership, and gave us real life examples of her lived experience, from the war torn front line in Bagdad, through to political changes in Washington.
In talking about agency, and how we take control of our destiny and careers, Andrea led us through some great exercises, and insightful topics. The stand out for me was around these two slides and our ability to ADAPT. I think Agile has had a rough time recently, but at it's core, it's about agility and our ability to adapt, so this really resonated when applying it to how we LEAD.

To wrap up the show, we got some entertainment from me. I got to share with our audience:
- the importance of genuine and authentic values in modern work. Ask the questions;
- the concept of Knowledge Obesity and how we've got accustomed to acquiring knowledge, but not putting it into action. How do we turn our thoughts into pragmatism and more DOING?
- The culprit to effective teams, flow, org change, engagement and life...the ORG CHART and how it stifles how we drive cross functional teams and networks of teams.
I even gave the audience a sneak peak of a NEW PLAY we're launching soon (sorry @Ingrid Blake for breaking my own embargo!) around Network of Teams and identifying those upstream and downstream of you that you need high fidelity meaningful relationships with.
Thanks to @Mark Higgins @Prashant Gami @jasmeet bedi and @oliver coady for helping us arrange the night.
We're going to continue the conversation, and shipping new content around how teams work. We're going to continue to research and share findings, and we'll invest more in thought leadership that helps you drive meaningful change.
- Tell us some changes you've made to how your teams work that have had an AMAZINGLY POSITIVE impact in the last 12 months. Let's crowd source great practices and all get better from learning from each other.
- Tell us where your struggling with teams, ways of working, practices, so we can think about how we can help you solve your future problems.
