during maintenance, best way to restrict all users ability to access JIRA projects?

hi all,

I want to restrict all users ( except JIRA Admins ) to access/work on projects in JIRA.

we need JIRA GUI to be available but only for post-upgrade or any other maintenance task testing. even after communication, our users think since JIRA is up and running , it is ok to update issues.

I understand this goes off the permission schemes.

We are LDAP so, any user with valid SSO can login to JIRA but cannot view/work on any projects. Other permissions go from "X" user group.

X user group is associated with lot of permissions in the default permission scheme.

Without modifying the default permission scheme, is there a way to achieve this ?

JIRA 7.3 Server users.

thanks

depending on the number of projects you have, your best bet might be making a new permission scheme (maintenance) with minimum permissions for your admins, change your projects over to that scheme, do your work, then move back to the normal permission scheme.

With this approach you could also give your X group read only (browse permission) access which may be fine during the maintenance window to at least give them a read only reference

Thanks Craig but that is not a viable option. we have about 150 projects.
