Why do inline comments work for some bullet lines but not others?

When hovering over paragraphs or lines you get the opportunity to add a comment against that whole line etc. I have a bullet list which only allows inline comments on a selection of the bullet lines. Anyone know why?

Hi,

Have you perhaps selected the status macro when you were trying to comment? If you select text AND a macro, or even sometimes just text inside a macro, you can't make an inline comment.
