What can cause HTTPError: reporter: The reporter specified is not a user

I am receiving the error: HTTPError: reporter: The reporter specified is not a user.

When I go through the GUI and manually create an issue I a able to add myself as a reporter with my name, with no problem.

However, when using python API, I am specifiying the reporter as a paramter in the clal and I am not able to add myself as a reporter. I have tried looking at documentation for this but I cannot find anything. Code below.

jira_response = jira_client.create_issue(
fields= {
"project": {
"id": '<number>',
"summary": 'test',
"description": 'Misconfiguration',
'reporter': {'name': 'Firstname Lastname'},
"issuetype": {
"name": "Task"
},
})

Does anyone know what can cause this:?

Hi @Mont ,

try to add username for reporter :

"reporter": { "id": "5b10a2844c20165700ede21g" },
