Can't seem to figure out how to show attachments as a link rather than a large box/object.

Just use the Insert Link button, then add or select your attachment.

Thanks for the reply Laura. I'm aware of the "Attachments" macro. However, I'm looking to pick-and-choose which attachments on a page I want to display as a link or as an object (default setting).

Hi,

There's a macro called "Attachments" that lets you list the attachments of a page in a table format with links to the files.

Check out the Atlassian documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/attachments-macro-97911315.html
