Set up group to recieve notifications/alerts (v4.2)

Hi - Can anyone recommend the easiest way to set up a group (potentially 500 individuals) to receive notifications when changes are made to a space.

I can see you can manage watchers in the space admin area but do you have to add the names individually ? also I have admin access but do not have permissions to modify watchers for a space.

Not sure if forcing users to watch a content is a good idea. Overall every should watch what they really want to watch to reduce notifications. Your role might only end by sharing the link to the page and add a quick note. Maybe you can also think about RSS Subscription. Adding 500 subscribes and making changes to a page might reduce Confluence performance if a lot of emails would be in the queue.
