Hi there!

We have been using Confluence 4.2.7 so far and we on our way to migrate to 5.3.4.

Here is my question: Our {forum} macros as well as the {forum summary} that we used as part of Confluence 4.2.7 seems not to work any longer in the newer version.

We have seached a bit and found that the free plugin 'Community Bubbles' (http://www.adaptavist.com/doco/display/Bubbles/Community+Bubbles+Plugin) supports a {forum} macro and also the {add topic} macro, however when just installing that free plugin without the 'premium plugin' Community Forum Plugins it does not work for us.

Can you help with more information about how we can migrate our 4.2.7 discussion forums to the latest Confluence version?

Thanks a lot!
Joerg

Thanks for your quick repsones! I guess since we have problems with the 'Community Bubbles' plugin from Adaptavist we need to go through their support services then. Thanks!

Hi Joerg,

Migration of the forums data from Bubbles to our Community Forums add-on is rather a painless, pretty straightforward process and many happy users accomplished it succesfully - get in touch with our Product Support Team and we will be happy to guide you stepy by step

Thanks,

Hi Joerg,

Hope this finds you well. Please note that from Confluence 5 versions, Community Forums which used to be embedded in Community Bubbles  was separated in a different plugin from Confluence 5.x and it works independently of having Bubbles installed or not.

In Confluence 5 versions, Community Bubbles remained a free plugin, but Community Forums was made a paid plugin.

The case scenario, you have mentioned in-order to use the Forum macros that were previously a part of Community Bubbles, you will have to install Community Forums. Please find the documentation for both the plugins.

Community Bubbles: and Community Forums

Also please know with regard to Community Bubbles,  know we have recently archived few of our plugins. One of them is Community Bubbles.

We had evaluated Community Bubbles , one of our oldest add-ons for Confluence. During this process we looked to determine how we could move Community Bubbles forward as a product and continue to deliver value to our customers via this add-on. During the course of investigation we identified a significant level of technical debt inherent in maintaining Community Bubbles that effectively means it is unsustainable for us to continue to offer Community Bubbles in it’s current state. We are focused on providing add-ons that deliver real value to our customers and there is currently too little demand to justify the development required to continue offering this product, either as a free add-on or as a commercial offering . It is therefore with deep regret that I must inform you of our difficult decision to retire Community Bubbles from our product portfolio.
Please go to the following link in order to get more information about this decision.http://www.adaptavist.com/w/announcement-retirement-11-add-ons/

Hi Joerg, Confluence 4.2 is before my time, but sounds like your {forum} macros are provided by a third party plugin to Confluence. The Marketplace provides information about what Confluence versions are supported for each plugin, and by going to Confluence Admin > Plugins you might be able to identify the plugin that provides this macro and then see in Marketplace if a newer version exists that is 5.5 compatible.

Hope this helps a little.
