Hello everybody,
we have jira service desk 3.2.3 (based on Jira 7.2) and confluence installed on the same unix server and connected on the same DBMS Postgresql 9.2 (everything in the same server).
Now, we want to upgrade both jira and confluence to the last versions. According to supported platforms, we should upgrade even postgresql because 9.2 is EOS for Jira 7.8 and is going to be EOS for Confluence 6.8 (to be released soon).
Do you suggest to upgrade postgresql before, check everything is ok, and as a next step upgrade jira/confluence ? Or it could be done everything in the same step ?
Other question: we would like to evaluate if move everything to aws, upgrading license to DataCenter version. We have some custom plugin deployed already, so we don't know if on aws we can expect some limitations. Do you know something about it ?
many thanks
Data Center deployments are quite unique to every single customer/product expectations. I do have a few recommendations that might work for you.

thanks, in fact evalueating if Data Center is compatible with out implementation is the main difficult task. However, do you have any suggestion about the first question (Do you suggest to upgrade postgresql before, check everything is ok, and as a next step upgrade jira/confluence ? Or it could be done everything in the same step ?)
Thanks in advance

Hi Nico,
The first recommendation is to evaluate JIRA Software and Confluence Data Center. The following steps should be to update JIRA and Confluence Server instances to a supported Data Center Versions.
My recommendation is also to review Atlassian's Best Practices for Data Center and follow our guidance step by step.
Hope this helps you to get started.
