How to get tables to render the same way when editing, previewing and publishing

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I have tables in both columns of a "Two Column Layout". When I'm editing or previewing they look great, but when I publish, the columns expand and I end up with scroll bars. Very annoying. Any workaround? See attached images (first is what I see while editing & previewing, the second is the published table with scroll bars).
