We want to invite an external person to our Confluence Cloud instance - walled off to a specific space. The invite from Confluence is quite generic and so we don't want to send the email invite. This is easy - simply don't tick the check box & no email is sent to the invited user.
However when we then send a link to the Confluence space - it asks the user for a user name and password. User name is easy - it is the email address of the user. The password however - we don't know what it has been set to & then have to use the forgot password link to get any further.
Is there a generic password or a setting in our Confluence Cloud that is setting a password for this user.
When we send the email invite - the user is prompted to create a password...
We have no problems with the user being prompted to create a password.
Thanks Bianca
Hi @[deleted] ,
In Atlassian Cloud instances, to add a new user, you will have to email invite by entering his/her email address and once the user accepts the email invite, then the admin will be able to check the Users Profile and has the option "Prompt for reset password".
When clicked on "Prompt for reset password" the user will receive an email to change their password.
Thanks,
Kiran.
Thanks - we were trying to avoid the send email - as the format isn't quite what we hoped for.

Hi @[deleted]
Unfortunately, there is no generic password or particular setting in Confluence Cloud to set the password for user.
You will have to use the Forgot Password Link to setup the password.
Thanks,
Kiran.

So that means there really is no way around not using the send email feature unless we instruct these users to click the forgot password and reset the password from there...
Thanks Bianca
