Cant edit in office from page preview

Hi
If i click on the attachment placeholder on a page to get a preview, edit in office does not appear. But from the attachment page it does!
Case 1 - from page place holder (word doc added to page)
Click this:
Case 2 - From the page attachments (clicking on the paperclip)
Its the same file, same preview but the previewer appears totally different. Why cant i get the case 2 result from the attachment placeholder on the page???
This is Confluence Cloud in Chrome but i get the same result in IE and Edge. Atlassian companion is installed and working (edits in case 2 upload back to Confluence).
