Paste a Word table to Confluence without table blowing up

Issue: I'm able to successfully paste Word tables to our Confluence Wiki without the tables "blowing up", meaning the formatting remains tight without extra space being added vertically.

However, I have a colleague who cannot paste a Word table to Confluence without the table adding a lot of extra space vertically, to the point where each row unneccessarily is sized like three rows.

We compared our versions of Word and Word settings: No difference.

We compared our Confluence permissions and settings: No difference.

We compared our browsers: I use Google Chrome and my colleague uses IE. THAT was the problem. Once she switched to Google Chrome, this problem went away.

Unfortunately for me, Chrome is not an option as my company has standardized on IE with no option to switch. I too have found Word tables to be unstable when copying into Confluence. My workaround is to copy the table from Word to Excel and then to Confluence. A bit clunky I know, but it does improve the formatting of the resulting table.
