I really enjoyed your podcast! It was a great introduction to Pipelines, and highlights the benefits of using it.
Thanks for providing us with some feedback. I'll pass it on to the rest of the team. Here's my thoughts on some of your points:
- Free build minute limitations.
- The team is well aware that 50 minutes is pretty limited for using Pipelines, especially after the time spent initially setting it up. I'm not on top of what (or when/if) we're going to try investigating this in more detail.
- No re-use of commands and steps.
- Debugging.
- Debugging the YAML issues, as you mentioned, can be done with the YAML validator in our editor.
- I'm not sure what python script you're referring to. Can you link it here?
- One other option is to follow the documentation on debugging locally. It's good for validating issues where files can't be found, authentication issues, and checking that necessary binaries are installed. However, it doesn't reproduce the more advanced Pipelines features.
- We have some open feature requests to improve the debugging experience of Pipelines:
- Matrix Builds
- This isn't on our roadmap at the moment, as I don't think there has been many requests for this. I couldn't find an open feature request. If it's important for your build processes, feel free to open one with some use-cases you have.
Thanks for sharing this podcast. Do you have any new feedback (or limitations you've discovered) since you published this?
Thanks,
Phil
