As we start kicking things off for 2020, we wanted to do a quick look-back over the last year at some of the changes that have happened in the Atlassian Marketplace. We’ve seen a lot of growth with many new Data Center, server, and notably cloud apps. In calendar year 2019, the Atlassian Marketplace gained over 250 new cloud apps and reached well over 1,000 cloud apps. With many of our server customers now evaluating cloud, we decided to look at some of the top server apps that released cloud compatible versions this year.
JSU is a popular app with over 16K installs on server that helps connect workflows and link issues with post functions for advanced automation. Beecom, the vendor behind this automation tool, wanted to extend the positive experience to server users migrating to cloud or freshly discovering Atlassian as new cloud customers. The feedback they’ve heard from customers so far describe the app as a “Great addon. Easy to use. Works like a charm!" and they are committed to delivering all the features to cloud that their server customers know and love.
A very popular project management app, ALM Works introduced their first cloud app, Structure for Jira, at Summit 2019. This cloud app makes it easy for project managers to visualize, track and manage progress across Jira projects and has been reimagined specifically for cloud. As one customer, Mike Hayes, Program Manager at Motor Trend, shared, “With Structure, I eliminated the use of Excel for program management at my last company. Thankfully, I convinced my new employer to let us use it on Jira Cloud. I don’t know how I would have gotten along without it.”
A longtime popular server app with close to 4k installs, customers have consistently requested a cloud version which the Decadis team was happy to deliver in December . The Jira Workflow Toolbox app allows users to create, transition, and update issues to solve even the most complex requirements. The team behind the app has been hard at work re-architecting the app for cloud with the goal to achieve feature parity between their cloud, server, and Data Center apps in the future. In the one month since they released the app, they’ve gained over 250 satisfied cloud customers!
Connecting your assets with Jira tickets is a popular use case among IT professionals and Insight has been a top app asset management for server for several years. Insight allows users to connect Jira tickets to assets and improves asset utilization with dependency mapping and impact analysis. The Marketplace vendor behind this product, Mindville (formerly Riada), decided to expand into cloud after receiving lots of feedback from customers asking when a cloud app would be available. After working with Atlassian to overcome a few technical hurdles, they released the first version of their cloud app in May of this year.
Customizing and exporting PDFs is a common use case among many teams and this app allows users to export Jira issues to PDF, share, print, and email. One of the Marketplace vendor Midori’s most popular and longest-standing apps on the Marketplace, they started hearing years ago from customers that they wanted a cloud version. After a year and a half of building, testing, and iterating to offer the best version of Better PDF Exporter for their customers, including running a beta program, Midori released their cloud version over this past summer.
This cloud app helps automate the job of keeping your Jira issues clean, reducing clutter from replied-to content, spam mail/bounces, signature icons, etc. It can make issues more contextually relevant by inlining images from the email right into the issue. The team behind this app, The Plugin People, were initially drawn to cloud because they wanted to replicate the same features of their server app and were excited by the freedom that cloud apps provided. With cloud, they already have OAuth integrations for Google Apps and Microsoft Office365, which helps users scale their email handling by automating and customizing their content notifications within the app. Plus users can also integrate it with Slack and SMS for additional customization!
This popular server app allows customers to visualize plans to maximize productivity. Recently ending their beta period, the team has reworked the architecture of the app several times to build an app that was scalable, secure, and performant in cloud. With frequent updates for user reported bugs and customer requested features, they are constantly looking for more user feedback to help improve their cloud app.
Create awesome forms for Confluence with 30+ fields for voting, feedback, inventory, surveys and more. Afterwards, easily transform your data into multiple formats like tables, lists, cards, and calendars. This app has received some rave reviews from cloud customers who say “the most useful and versatile app [they’ve] purchased for Confluence” and that ”the support is 1st class [with] updates made on an almost weekly basis.”
Released for cloud in May of 2019, this app helps create reports to identify how much time each issue spent in each status and quickly identify bottlenecks. This cloud app allows you to create advanced calendar configurations for your reports and they have a demo online where you can interact with the app before installing. It was due to strong customer demand that the vendor behind this app decided to build a cloud version and they have seen faster adoption than expected which can be summed up by one customer's quote: “It simply does what it says on the can."
A free app for users of Miro and one of the Marketplace’s fastest growing cloud integrations, it allows users to easily embed Miro whiteboards and access all relevant assets directly from Confluence. This tool is great for keeping project visuals all in one place with whiteboards acting like endless canvases for wireframes, flowcharts, user story maps and timelines.
This list is only a small subset of the cloud apps that arrived on the Atlassian Marketplace in 2019 and hopefully you discovered one or two that you didn’t know about. Stay tuned for the next article on 10 popular cloud integrations and take a look at some of our past articles in our cloud app series.
