Making it easier to migrate apps

When it comes to making the move to cloud, apps are a big part of the migrations conversation. In fact, more than 60% of Jira Software and Confluence customers use at least one Marketplace app.

Atlassian recently announced the decision to simplify our self-managed offerings to deliver a world-class cloud experience. We suspect that for many of you, app migrations may be more top of mind than ever in light of this announcement. Change of any type can be hard, but we want you to know that we’re investing in making it as easy as possible for you to migrate apps to cloud. There’s already progress to celebrate and we’re not slowing down anytime soon.

TLDR: more apps than ever now have app data migration paths or have committed to working with Atlassian to support them in the future.

Here’s an update on where things stand today and what’s planned:

1. Today, many popular Marketplace apps already have migration paths available. This knowledge base article outlines apps with documented migration paths, which includes:

• Apps that currently support automated app migration paths, such as:

  • Advanced Tables for Confluence

  • Table Filter and Charts

• Apps that currently support manual migration paths, such as:

  • Tempo Timesheets (automated path coming soon)

  • Structure - Project Management at Scale (automated path coming soon)

  • Comala Document Management (automated path coming soon - check out the video below for a preview!)

2. To add to that momentum, we’re also working with additional Marketplace Partners to build automated migration paths through the Cloud Migration Assistants. These apps are listed in this knowledge base article. They will soon be available for customers to test through an Early Access Program (more on that coming soon) and include some customer favorites like:

When we surveyed Community Leaders earlier this year, 65% said that extensibility and apps are “very important” or “extremely important” factors when choosing software. We hear you! We’re excited to report on the progress to date and will continue working with our marketplace partners to make migrating app data easier and more accessible.
