Service Desk Approval using Script Runner

Hi,
Can't seem to figure out how to simulate the correct approval function without actually using it.
My situation is that I have a custom implementation for Mail Approval which uses Email this issue add-on to handle the mails and trigger a transition which either requires a Service Desk Approval or a Custom Script condition to be fulfilled.
This works fine, though "Approval History" is lost, because it has not technically been "Approved".
I tried looking up other posts and documentation, but no luck.
Any help is appreciated.
