Suppose you have a company-managed project XYZ on Jira Cloud, where team ABC does not have Edit Issues permission to the project. However, you'd like team ABC to be able to edit one or two specific single line text fields.

So, two questions:

  1. Is this even possible in the current implementation of Behaviours on Cloud?
    • The documentation on this page suggests that it is - Custom text field is supported, and Make field editable/read-only is supported.
    • But the example here isn't helping me very much.
    • I found a Server/DC example of field-level permissions, which sounds like what I'm trying to do, but the Cloud implementation is much different than Server/DC (which is understandable)
    • I searched the Adaptavist Library for Behaviours on Cloud, but there are no hits.

  2. If so, can anyone offer any hints as to how to make a start?

Thanks in advance,

Kel

Hi Kelly,

I can confirm ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud's behaviours feature will support working on the issue view, which is the edit screen in Jira cloud in the near future.

This would allow fields to be edited if the user had permission to edit them but will not be able to override any permissions configured for the project.

To see when this feature is released, please follow the release notes on the documentation page located here.

Regards,

Kristian
