We created Simple script validator for Affected Version(s) field in Jira.
Validator show error if user pick "Backlog" value for Affected Version on create issue screen.
Steps to reproduce:
On workflow --> open--> create transition
Add validator
Add Script Validator
Add Simple scripted validator
Used following simple script: ! ( issue.affectedVersion*.name.contains("Backlog")

It works fine, besides it gives error on any value entered into Affected versions field on create issue screen.
We believe that this could be a ScripRunner bug.  Script in validator with our script works fine for all fields besides affectedVersion.

We use free version of ScriptRunner v3.1.4
We don't know if issue is fixed in any of later free versions of ScriptRunner.
Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Helen.

You are on a version that is more than 3 years old. I cannot go back to check that far since we do no longer support that version. I would recommend that you upgrade to a retail version of Scriptrunner.

Cheers!

Thank you, Daniel. Atlassian support could reproduce issue. We will return to creating validation  after we upgrade.
