Upgrade Confluence tables to Smart Tables and create data reporting all in one place

Fellows! Salma is here from a Platinum Marketplace Partner. This time, I’m speaking to Confluence users who play with data in their day-to-day tasks.

You’ll thank me later! I mean “us”.

To make it short and clear for you, here’s a use case to simplify how this app can help you.

Using Smart Tables capabilities in Confluence can help turn data into actionable insights for decision-making. By efficiently analyzing sales reviews across international regions, Smart Tables for Confluence enables data translation all in one place.

Aggregating data with Pivot tables

Gathering sales data into a comprehensible format is a time-consuming task, as one must constantly switch between Confluence and third-party tools for analysis and reporting.

Now, you don’t have to worry about that, you have an all-in-one data management tool in Confluence.

The first feature that will help in the analysis process is the pivot table feature, which can be done right from your Confluence page.

By converting the Confluence Table into a smart one with just one click, you can create a pivot table that changes once the smart table data is edited or updated.

Start by pulling your data directly from your sales tracking Confluence pages. With just a few clicks, create a pivot table to sum up total sales by product line and region.

The pivot table dynamically organizes data, offering you a view that highlights top-performing regions and underperformers.

Once the pivot table, a.ka. Smart table, is set up, you can switch to a bar chart view with one click, maintaining all the data relationships that the pivot table has created to compare sales performance across different categories and regions.

Creating a chart from scratch:

Following the same use case, you can also create a chart from the converted Confluence table, which will give you more options to play with and customize your chart view.

Here’s a detailed guide on how to do it

Exporting reports:

After a successful review meeting, sometimes you want to share reports with the team or external parties to enhance transparency. You have 2 solutions:

  • The export feature of Smart Tables allows you to download your table into an Excel file (.xlsx).

  • The PDF export of the Confluence page

This smart usage of Confluence tables can solve many tasks and allow you to focus on one tool.
