Can the Atlassian reference application be used for a custom wallboard?

Maybe just to host some open social gadgets at minimum? (I thought I had seen this in an Atlassian blog a while bacK), but ideally also run the JIRA Wallboard plugin

I would imagine not without extensive modification since the refapp has no concept of a dashboard.
