Sprint Time Zone on Timeline is Incorrect

Ray Nixon January 30, 2024

In the timeline view of a plan, the sprints for each team are showing to start one day earlier than the sprints show on the boards.

We've set the issue source for each team on the plan to be a board, and those boards all have two week sprints set up to start on Tuesdays.

However on the Timeline the sprints all show as starting on the Monday. After some investigation it appears that this is because of a time zone bug.

The sprints on the board are set to start at 00:00 (e.g. 6-Feb 00:00), and the timezone for Jira is set to GMT+12 (but currently due to daylight savings is GMT+13)

The sprints on the timeline are then shown to start on the day before at 11:00am UTC (e.g. 5-Feb 11:00 UTC) when hovering over the i in the sprint information. Because this is rounded to the start of the day everywhere else it shows as 5-Feb instead of 6-Feb.

So, is this a bug? The timeline view (in my opinion) should use the same time zone setting that the rest of Jira does, and show the sprints start time in that time zone. Or just show them starting on the same day as set in the board.
