I am trying to look at the progress at Epic and intiative level, But when I creata a plan , it does not show stories that are completed thus prrogress bar shows 0 progress.
Anyone could help, perhaps I ma configuring something wrong

There is a filter allowing you to decide how far to go look for completed items. For this, have a look at the "More" dropdown in the plan filter bar and select the "Completion Date" filter. You should then be able to specify the desired range.
If you are working with hours instead of story points, the progress is based out of logged hours which you might or might not use.
