Jira Data Center Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy not working

Kruno April 21, 2022

Hi there,

I hope someone can help as this is driving me crazy.

We are using on our DC Instance Advanced Roadmaps and the Hierarchy defined by me is not visible.

2. I added it as the top level in the hierarchy setup

3. I have 3 EPICs which I linked to a Demand and they are visible on the Demand as children

4.But for some reason the hierarchy is not visible in Roadmaps

I tried a lot of things already even including reindexing but nothing worked.

I even tried to create a Demand issue in the Roadmap view and attached the EPICs to it. It worked until I applied the changes to Jira, then the new Demand was gone and the Plugin even showed a message that this Demand is no longer visible.

Hi @Andie Duframe ,

If your issue hierarchy in AR is:

  1. Demand
  2. Epic
  3. Story (or any other standard issue type)

Please note that the link between Epic and Demand is NOT done via issue link in the issue view, but via Parent link in AR only.

Hi @Dave Mathijs

I know. I set the Parent Link and on the linked main issue I can see the issues as Children.

Somehow all my screenshots are gone so trying to add them again.

Just for completeness here the view from AR.

The warning on the first issue is not related, just a date mismatch.

Are all your projects in the scope of your issue source?

Does the Hierarchy on the Roadmap tab show Demand to Story?

Looking at your screenshot, SPIRESD-1130 is your Demand, right?

Are any filters selected in your issue view?

Could you add a screenshot of your roadmap?

@Andie Duframe

You need to select those 3 Epics and add them to the Parent (Demand) via bulk operation.

@Dave Mathijs

I use a filter and not the projects themselves. The filter is selecting all issues incl. the Demands

I selected Demand to EPIC but also tried all other options.

Correct

Are any filters selected in your issue view?

No

Could you add a screenshot of your roadmap?

Sure

@Andie Duframe

Your issue source (you've only used 1 filter) doesn't include the DEVOPS issues, nor the SNJ issues and won't appear on the roadmap.

You would either need to add a project, board or filter containing the issues from the other projects as well if they are the child issues of your parent (Demand).

@Dave Mathijs

The Filter does contain them, this is the second screenshot but an unfortunate one as the top ones are only form one project, here different ones.

@Dave Mathijs

I just tested it again and created a Demand directly in the Roadmap.

I think the error message shown last could help but no clue which information they mean.

Could you please share the entire JQL of the Filter from your issue source? Thanks.

Kruno April 21, 2022

@Dave Mathijs

I found the issue.

I created Teams and one of the teams has got one Release created. Only Issues will be shown assigned to this Release.

Also, the Fix Version can be a problem but need to test if it is.

@Andie Duframe

I'm glad you found the possible root cause of the issue.

Troubleshooting can sometimes be hard without actual access to the environment, hence all the different question.

Thanks for the link to the KB article.

Please let me know if/when it's resolved.
