If I update the query will my portfolio plan change as well?

I am a new portfolio user. We have a release portfolio that multiple teams are currently using from last year. The source is a filter picking from multiple projects

Please let me know if I update the query to include the new project. Will it affect the plan in anyway?

Hello,

Yes, the plan is pulling in the issue sources based on the filter, either applied by a Board linked to the plan or applied as a direct saved filter to the plan, so editing the filter will update the issue present in the plan based on the filter changes.
