Adding a Parent to an Initiative

Robert W_ Olsen March 13, 2024

A customer is using Jira and is looking to have a parent above an Initiative.  He is currently using Initiative <-> Capability <-> Epic <-> Story, but needs something above the Initiative level.  Not sure if there is something we can create and put above Initiative or is there anything that exists out there that would resolve this request.

Any ideas?

In Data Center, you can create as many levels in the hierarchy as you want. Just select 'Manage Apps' and go to the 'Hierarchy Configuration' under the 'Advanced Roadmaps for Jira' section.

To add an additional level, click the 'Create level' button. By default, this will add a level above the current highest level. Add whatever issue type should be the parent of the Initiative into that level and save the configuration.

After you do this, you'll need to add the 'Parent Link' field to your Initiative screens so you can link the Initiative to the issue that is above it in the hierarchy.
