It's Wednesday... so that means it is time for another edition of WIP Wednesday from yours truly!
My original plan after finishing the Community Manager Badge was to work on the Kudos All Star Badge. I got about 50% through it when I realized that I hated the colors I had chosen for the mountains. I buy all my tread in bulk variety packs from my local craft store and so far I have been pretty lucky in getting colors that are decently close to the colors used in the Kudos Badges. Unfortunately, I do not have the right shades of blue and grey to do the Badge justice... so I had to completely scrap that project and put the pattern back into my Backlog. Like the old Agile saying goes "Fail Fast, Fail Often!"
I felt a little disheartened after this and decided to take a break from cross-stitching while I waited for more Aida cloth to be delivered in the mail. While I was waiting, I ended up getting side-tracked on a completely different craft project...
I have around two dozen crochet patterns that I have collected over the last three years sitting in a Google Drive Folder. I was going through that folder the other day and you could say that I was "magically" attracted to one of the patterns that I haven't made before... Hence the "Magical Surprise" Trello card on my Board!
The instructions were surprisingly easy to follow and it only took me a few days to whip up this cute little guy:
One of the things that I absolutely adore about him is that he has a fully functional pocket in the front, just like a "real" Niffler! I put a Danish Krone in there to show that the pocket works, but the pocket is actually big enough for me to push the coin completely inside.
I still need to crochet him a scarf to complete his look and I leaning towards making it a nice "Atlassian Blue" color. :)
If you are interested in making your own Niffler, you can find this pattern in the "flutterskykylee" Etsy shop. I 10/10 recommend it!
Up next, I will be going back to cross-stitching and tackling the "Friday Fun" Kudos Badge!
