Throwback Thursday: Do you have a favorite hiking destination? #TBT

It's Thursday!

My hiking buddy and friend, Steve, and I often take a hike to this one, lone tree. The "trail head" is only about 10 min drive from where I used to live for over 2 years, so it was very convenient and close by. It is a pretty steep hike; we quickly go up in elevation. Very beautiful up there and so serene. That one, lone tree at the top (not quite the very top but a hill on the way to the top) stands resolute and proud. We really love going to the tree.

There is a chapel at my Alma Mater that we will hike out to in the woods when where back on campus for a visit.

If you ever make it to Boston, check out the Middlesex Fells Reservation. There are a ton of hiking trails. The one closest to me takes you up to Wrights Tower. At the top, the view is amazing, you can see the entire city over the horizon

What a stunning view - I like the way you were able to capture the foliage change with the season. My favorite hiking destination happens to be a hidden path beside my parents' house that leads up to an overgrown green and flowery pasture. I used to go here all the time in highschool when I needed to think/disconnect!

Great question @Kristján Geir Mathiesen! One of my favorites is A Mountain at Arizona State University. It is a pretty simple hike and you can see all of downtown Tempe from the top. Another I love is Lockett Meadow in Flagstaff. While it is a challenge to get to, the fall colors are absolutely amazing!

We have a hiking group and the location was one of the plateaus in Hopa/Artvin/Turkey in August 2019. It is at an approximate altitude of 3000 meters.

Have you ever been over Jira cloud? 😄 It's like hiking on a whole different level! It's something like swimming within the clouds, I do not recommend swimming there though.

Bear Mountain, New York.  Last time our family did it was three years ago, need to get to it again this autumn! Looking out into the valley with the explosion of color from the changing tress is magical!

Great hikes, everyone!  My favorite continues to be Carbon River Glacier at Mount Rainier.  I have been going there for decades, although since the roads are now washed away the hike to it gets longer and longer.  :^)  Here is a picture of the approach crossing the river bed.

Danke für die Jahreszeitenbilder, ich der ich im November geboren bin, liebe den Herbst.

Mit dem wechselnden Farben gibt es ständige neue Eindrücke.

Die Hitze des Sommers ist vorbei, so dass Wandern und Erkunden leichter fällt.

Die Nächte sind bereits kühl, und lassen  erholsamen Schlaf zu, so das man während des Tages gute (Wander)Leistung bringen kann.

Auch die herbstliche Abendämmerung samt wohligen Stunden vor romanstischen Kaminfeuer mit den Früchten des Jahres, eimem guten Glas Wisky, Wein, Tee ....,  das von innen wärmt samt guten Lesestoff, hat etwas für sich....

Kurz und Gut, bei den Bildern und Berichten bekomme ich Sehnsdsucht nacht den alten Zeiten. Denn meine Aktivitäten sind ziemlich eingeschränkt aufgrund meiner Parkinsonerkrankung.

Trotzdem schönes Wochenende, schönen Herbst, schönen Indiansummer und weitere Zeiten

Not really a long hike but my favorite place would be the Watkins Glen in upstate NY. So many waterfalls and it makes the walk so scenic and peaceful. 10/10 recommend if you are ever in NY and would rather do something in nature than the city.

One of my favorite hiking trails in St. Louis (county of Ballwin), MO is Castlewood Park.  It has various terrains for beginner hikers.  Climbing to the top you can see the Meramec River.
