Atlassian Community Round-up: June 2023

Hello Everyone!

It’s that time once again to take a look at everything that has happened in the past month! From major events, to product announcements, to amazing people providing great tips & best practices to help the Community, I guarantee there is something here for everyone. Let’s get started!

Announcements & Highlights:

As always, there are a TON of amazing things happening and here is just a small sample of all the great things you don’t want to miss out on!

  • First up, this actually showed up as one of the top trending discussions, but I thought it was extremely important to put it right at the beginning of this round up. Please read though this notice as Atlassian customers are being targeted with phishing emails. Try to validate via a second source to see if any email requesting your Atlassian credentials is valid or not.

  • Next, be sure to check out the changes to the online community! There are updated to the way tags can be used on content going forward among others.

  • The Community Release notes leads right into our next topic. Back near the beginning of June, the Community team hosted an initiative to remove pounds of garbage from the Ocean for likes on content in the Online community. The goal was far exceeded and this was great work that everyone was a part of. Be sure to jump in on the next challenge starting today!

  • Next, Jira Day is coming back again. Are you going to be near Cracow, Poland Oct. 17-18? or are you looking for a good reason to visit? Be sure to save the date for an amazing in person event and stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

  • I know we have talked about the fact that the University team has drastically reduced the cost of their training library, but they are also expanding the number of new courses they are also offered at $39 USD. Be sure to check out what they have available there are new courses showing up regularly! I’m currently working through Advanced Asset Management in JSM!

  • If you missed out on QuizWiz last year, you missed my embarrassing appearance on the very first episode as well as a ton of fun while various members of the Atlassian ecosystem competed for the prized “King/Queen of the QuizWiz“ title. We’ll don’t miss out this year as they are back, only this time it’s a team based Tag Team battle. Who’s going to take the titles? You’ll need to watch to find out!

  • I have really enjoyed every part of this series that @Walter Buggenhout has shared with us going back to the first part in November of 2021! I don’t have teenagers (yet) but I’m making notes because soon enough I’m going to be able to take advantage of all these wonderful tips being shared! https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Teamwork-Lab-articles/Raising-a-Teenager-retrospectives/ba-p/2385932

  • When, I first saw the word “pandemic“ a chill went down my spine. As I started reading through the article, @Peter Van de Voorde is absolutely right! If you have never played the board game (either as a physical copy or an online friendly digital version) it’s a strategists dream where working together is critical to everyone being successful. Go read the the full article it was a great read (and be sure to check the comments, peter made a follow up post about another great team building game)! https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Teamwork-Lab-articles/Play-Pandemic-It-s-a-great-way-to-get-to-know-your-team/ba-p/2378211

  • Lastly, if you missed the June 7th Atlas Community event, it was possibly the single largest global event that has taken place! 27 Atlassian Community Events chapters from around the world had about 125 live attendees for this amazing event. If you weren’t able to join live be sure to check out the YouTube video that has been posted as there is a lot to learn about Atlas here! https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Atlas-Group-articles/Watch-the-recording-of-our-first-Atlas-Community-Event/ba-p/2394867
