Basic question - sorry!
Although it is possible on the App, it seems that when using my browser (Safari), I first have to create a card which is saved, then go back and edit to add a label and/or description and save again. This means that my boss gets notifications twice. One for creating and then another for amending. Is there any way I can do all at the same time?
What about emailing the card contents to Trello per https://help.trello.com/article/809-creating-cards-by-email
The body becomes the description, the subject line becomes the title, and any hash tags in the subject line are stripped out and used as labels.
One operation, one notification...

Ooh Thank you. That's the labels sorted - but can't work out how to do the description without saving first?

No way to do that in the Trello web interface but you can set the description when a card is created I believe in the API so a diff card creation interface might work (I can’t test right now but for example https://trello.com/add-card might do it or another tool like that or you could write something to do it)
