Want to create time cards (log in/log out)

My team and I want to keep track of how many hours certain employees are working on a specific task or card, so we want to be able to subtract time.

For example, if someone presses the "Log in" card button, a custom field would set with the current time, and when the press "Log out" the new current time would subtract from itself. However, everything I've tried doesn't seem to be working.

I want to put the hours in a custom field, so we can use the "Number Stats" powerup to average it. If you know of better ways for averaging, please tell.

Any suggestions? Other ways to log time?

@Raegan Fordemwalt I would have thought a Butler card button will be able to do the job of creating the date time field. Obviously, you have to save the data   next before next work cycle since you want to use custom field.

I can think of another approach is capture the check in and out by trapping the card movement into a special list “Check In” and when card moves out of that list it is considered check out. I have not tested it with a Butler because as always there are other business rules to consider. It helps if you have the triggers in place. Let me know if you need more info. I have a demo that shows this effect by recording cards representing airlines flying between 3 cities on a board between list.

FYI the write to Google sheet to save each event has an automatic time stamp.
