Using Trello with a non confirmed email account

Alberto Estévez June 18, 2024

Hello Trello Forum,

We have encountered an issue regarding some Crmble users and their Trello accounts. Currently, Crmble users rely exclusively on their Trello accounts, as we do not offer separate Crmble account creation. When we send onboarding messages, they go to the email associated with the Trello account. Unfortunately, some of these emails are returned because the email accounts do not exist.

This led us to investigate if it was possible to use Trello without a confirmed email account. We discovered that it is possible to use Trello with an incorrect or non-existent email as long as the user does not log out of their browser. However, once logged out, Trello requires access to the email account to retrieve a password, which is not feasible for a non-existent email.

Could you please advise on where to point users in this situation?

Thank you

Hi @Alberto Estévez - all users must confirm their email after a short period of time after account creation. If users do not confirm their email because their email address is incorrect or non-existent, they will not be able to re-enter their Atlassian Account and access products like Trello.

As a result, if a user does not have access to the email they created their account with (whether the email doesn't exist, they entered it incorrectly, etc.), they will need to leave the account they created which is unconfirmed dormant, and create an account with their correct email.
